Nazareth
Villages is an apartment facility for persons who are 62 years old or
older, or for individuals who are physically or mentally challenged. The complex
is located on the beautiful campus of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth just
outside historic Bardstown, Kentucky.
After Nazareth College merged and
became Spalding University in 1971, several buildings on the Campus of the
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth were available to serve other needs. Aware
of the increasing numbers of elderly persons in our society with special
housing needs, the Sisters responded and entered the housing ministry by
opening Nazareth Village I in 1979. Mary Lee Burba was the first person to
occupy a Nazareth Villages apartment and she still lives in the complex today.
In retrospect she said, "I have made mistakes in my life...but
choosing to move to Nazareth Villages surely wasn't one of them. I love it
here. Nazareth is my home and I can't
imagine living anywhere else." |
Nazareth Village II
Nazareth Village I offers 101 apartments with HUD
Section 8, rent
subsidy.
Nazareth Village II offers 45 apartments, affordable rates, and
rent subsidy for those who meet certain criteria.
Nazareth Villages provide independent apartment living in a safe and
supportive environment - a place where one can truly feel at home.
